News or Channel content not showing

Channels enabled but the screen isn't playing News or editorial content. Three checks.

Written by Support Team

Use-case

You've enabled News or another Channel on a screen, but the content isn't appearing in the loop. Work through these checks before contacting support.

Quick checklist

  1. Screen is online — check the Screen Manager status.

  2. Categories are selected — News requires at least one category enabled.

  3. Settings match — verify Channels are enabled in the screen configuration.

Steps

1. Check the screen is online

If the player is offline, it can't fetch fresh Channel content.

  • Confirm the screen shows as online in the Screen Manager.

  • Troubleshoot power, HDMI, and Wi-Fi if it isn't. See Keep your screen awake and online.

2. Verify News categories are selected

News is split into categories (world, business, sports, entertainment, etc.). If none are selected, the screen has nothing to play.

  1. Open Screen Manager > Screens > select your screen.

  2. Go to Channels > News.

  3. Confirm the category toggles are on.

  4. Save.

See Use Channels on your screens for the full Channel setup.

3. Trigger a refresh via Ads Frequency

If everything looks right but nothing is playing, a small settings change forces the player to re-sync.

  1. Open the screen in Screen Manager.

  2. Adjust the Ads Frequency slider by one step (up or down).

  3. Save. The player will resync within 1–2 minutes. You can move the slider back afterwards.

Good to know

  • Channels are editorial content (news, weather, horoscopes, fun facts) that FRAMEN provides to fill gaps between ads.

  • If the Channel is enabled, the screen is online, and a refresh doesn't fix it, contact FRAMEN support with your Screen ID. See Find your Screen ID.
