Connect any screen

Most modern screens work with FRAMEN. Here are the requirements, workarounds for older hardware, and supported platforms.

Written by Support Team

Use-case

Check whether your screen is compatible before ordering hardware or trying to pair a device.

Basic requirements

  • Aspect ratio — 16:9 (standard for most TVs, monitors and tablets).

  • HDMI port — required for connecting a FRAMEN TV Box, Fire TV Stick or other streaming device.

  • Screen size — 40 inches or larger is recommended; smaller screens work too.

No HDMI? Try this

If your screen has a DVI port, use an HDMI-to-DVI adapter.

  • Check your screen's specs to confirm adapter compatibility. Some screens don't support this and may lose picture quality.

  • USB ports don't work — the FRAMEN app isn't designed to run over USB.

If the FRAMEN app isn't on your Smart TV

Older Smart TVs may not list the FRAMEN app in their store:

  • Amazon Fire TV Stick — plug into the HDMI port and install the FRAMEN app. Works on most TVs with HDMI.

  • FRAMEN TV Box — dedicated device, works on any screen with HDMI.

Supported operating systems

The FRAMEN Screen Manager app is available on:

  • Android TV

  • Fire OS

If your screen runs neither, use a Fire TV Stick, the FRAMEN TV Box, or contact us for other integration options.

Apple TV

No Apple TV app is available. Use a Fire TV Stick or FRAMEN TV Box with any HDMI-compatible display.

Good to know

  • Minimum internet: 5 Mbps recommended. Slower links risk buffering or drops. See Keep your screen awake and online.

  • Unsure which setup? See What type of screen do I need?.
